shadow & pine

I used to think shadows were black, occasionally gray, and always dull.  They are in fact of various colors as illustrated by this pine and its shadow.  Shadow often refers to the seamier side of life, but I find shadows intriguing, even vibrant!  Shadows create another world, a world where appearances change, where things are graceful and airy.  By looking at shadow, you learn about substance.

  1. I love the composition here. This is the type of landscape detail I love.
